How do we imagine a place that cannot quite exist? Some places are perfectly possible yet somehow impossible within the rules of ordinary life.
Fan-Ta begins with a “what if…”: What if there were a nude beach in Korea? Where would it be? How would people find it and what might happen once they arrived?
Strangers gather to inhabit their own bodies, mind their own business and spend a little time together. A naked body reveals everything yet has nothing to prove. For a moment it slips out of its name, identity and social position. Not this person or that person just a body among bodies.
‹Fan-Ta› imagines a little holiday from the obligation to be someone. A gap in the everyday where the rules loosen their grip and being together might be as simple as being there.

Lee Minjin is a Korean dancer and choreographer whose practice moves between contemporary dance and performance. Beginning in hip-hop and commercial dance before studying contemporary dance, she has collaborated across theatre, visual arts and other disciplines. Her work approaches choreography as a way of questioning how dance is perceived, organised and understood. Rather than treating dance as a fixed form of expression, she attends to the subtle relationships between movement, spectatorship, social conventions and the environments in which bodies exist. Moving between stage and everyday life, representation and lived experience, her practice explores how meaning shifts through performance, and how choreography might open up other ways of being together.
