Springwave Festival 2007
  • International Interdisciplinary Arts Festival
  • 4-30 May 2007

The creative and aesthetic qualities of the experimental interdisciplinary work began to be recognized since the late 20th century, and now is the time to reassert its significance as the leading contemporary art form of this century. In Korea, there has been a need for a catalyst for these new ideas and art forms could be created and contested, and it is in this context where Springwave Festival has been initiated.

Grounded on the vast network of diverse art forms, Springwave Festvial is an international experimental arts festival to be held in every May, covering genres as diverse as contemporary dance, theatre, visual arts, music, film and performance.

In 2007, the first Springwave Festival invites fifteen interdisciplinary art works from Korea and abroad, and stage them on seven different venues in Seoul for about a month, opening with William Forsythe’s work. In this way, Springwave Festival attempts to nurture new artistic attitudes and forms, and play a focal point for Asian contemprary art production.
