In ‹Exit Piece #0› the Swedish theatre maker and actor Iggy Malmborg, through the theatrical exit or sortie, investigates with a high degree of playfulness and theoretical sharpness how we humans relate to endings. Is it a conclusion or an escape, a form of settlement or a flight? An exit performs tension between presence and power, between what is considered worth keeping and what’s not wanted, between forgetting and recollection. The very word includes both the event of leaving as a form of resistance, but also that of being pushed away by an external force.

In ‹Exit Piece #0› the sortie reverberates into the necessity and impossibility to escape from oneself, leaving forms of existence as a whole. The event of leaving is also a marking of the threshold between the inside and outside. But what if there is no outside, nowhere to flee to? Perhaps, the fantasy of escaping is nothing more than a promise that is keeping us in place.

For the audience in Seoul Iggy Malmborg has developed a pre-study of the project, specially for Ob/Scene festival.

Iggy Malmborg is a Swedish theatre maker and actor known for his intricate and highly reflective performances where the seemingly elementary gains philosophical traction and twisted humor meets obsessive research into the medium of theatre.

With ‹b o n e r› from 2014 Malmborg discovered an intimate format that he has developed in a series of productions that although very different are held together through a particular vision concerning theatre, expression and world-making. Malmborg is a unicum in contemporary theatre, a visionary who makes magic and realism share the stage, maintaining a passion for theatre and at the same time undermining its prominence.

In addition to his own productions Iggy Malmborg is a sought-after actor for TV and film and has starred in a number of popular TV-series and features. In the season 23/24„he premiered his most recent solo work, ‹SATAN›, as well as a series of three productions entitled Försök (Swedish for ‘attempts’, or ‘essays’) commissioned by Gothenburg city theatre. This season ‹SATAN› continues to tour and for the first time, he will also make a piece of theatre for children entitled ‹Mot slutet›(Towards the end) commissioned by the renowned Backa Teater.
